Partners

Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) is a regional coordinating mechanism for the sustainable development of coastal and marine areas in the East Asian Seas region. It was created to foster and sustain healthy and resilient coasts and ocean, communities, and economies across the seas of East Asia through integrated management solutions and partnerships. It works with national and local governments, companies, research and science institutions, communities, international agencies, regional programs, investors, and donors to implement a shared coastal and marine strategy called the ‘Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia’. Operating for more than three decades, the Partnership actively engaged a network of local governments and learning centres to effectively manage coasts and ocean using tools such as integrated coastal management, integrated river basin management, etc. to promote blue economy across the shared seas of East Asia. Its secretariat, the PEMSEA Resource Facility is hosted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Philippines.
