The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), through the project Effectively Managing Networks of Marine Protected Areas in Large Marine Ecosystems in the ASEAN Region (ASEAN ENMAPS) continues to support marine conservation efforts in the ASEAN region as it actively participated in the 16th East Asian Seas (EAS) Partnership Council Meeting organised by the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) from 23 to 25 July 2024.
During the meeting, Ms. Claudia Binondo, Director for Project Development Division of the ACB’s Programmes Department, shared the ACB’s strategic plans and activities under its coastal and marine biodiversity programme, including ACB’s proposed session as co-convener of the EAS Congress 2024. These are all integrated into the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia (SDS-SEA) as part of the ACB’s contribution to its implementation.
The SDS-SEA addresses common threats and outlines strategic action programmes aimed at mitigating the impacts of natural and manmade hazards on coastal and marine resources, as well as on the people, communities, and economies of the region. ASEAN ENMAPS is directly
